Caffè Lucca is a wonderful little Piaggio Ape50 scooter-truck carrying a bespoke mobile espresso bar. We are based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. We serve a full menu of espresso-based drinks and delicious, locally-made treats. Appreciated as much for the classic Italian coffee it serves up as it is for the magical and magnetic atmosphere it creates, this hard-working ‘Ape’ (Italian for bee as Vespa is for wasp) is a fun-hub wherever it goes.

What do you do?

In addition to vending at our favourite regular locations, we offer mobile espresso bar catering at weddings, employee appreciation days, backyard BBQs, craft markets, trade shows…wherever and whenever!

What's on the menu?

We serve espresso-based specialty coffee favourites (cappuccino, latte, mocha, etc.), iced specialty coffee drinks (seasonal), and locally made treats.

Can you accommodate dietary concerns?

Our menu always includes caffeine-free options and milk-alternatives. Gluten-free and dairy-free treats are easily included in your treat order.

How is it powered?

We need a regular dedicated household power outlet within 15m of where we set up, or we can use our compact and quiet inverter generator to supply power.

Does it need a water hookup?

The Caffè Lucca mobile espresso cart carries its own water supply.

Can you serve indoors?

We can serve outdoors AND indoors too, just so long as there is a flat and level path through a set of double doors to your event area.

Can Caffè Lucca operate in the rain/cold?

We’re ready to serve, rain or shine, but if bad weather clouds your day we can postpone to a later date.

How long is the average catering service?

Depending on your group size and your specific needs, a typical coffee service will run between 2 and 3 hours.

About Us

Trevor Benesch, Caffè Lucca’s owner/operator, has over twenty years experience as a Vespa mechanic, with a specialization in restoring and maintaining classic machines. He designed and rebuilt the Caffè Lucca Ape from the ground up. His love of coffee came from serving endless espresso-based drinks to customers at his old Vespa shop. The shop was a hub for Vespa enthusiasts who would visit to chat, hang out, and enjoy the coffee. There were many days when the espresso machine got more of a workout than Trevor’s tools did.
